This year Uncle Mark, Aunt Carrie and Claira came on Friday to celebrate Easter. The kiddos were super excited about this and helped make goodies during the week for their arrival. On Saturday we had Varsity Donuts for breakfast....of course:) the boys got special peeps donuts! And we played outside that morning because it was so nice out! Daddy, Uncle Mark, Kayden and Breck all crashed on the scooters..yep, even the "big kids" crashed! Daddy banged up his elbow, hip and finger. Kayden crashed the hardest though, going down a hill his front wheel caught on a hole in the cement and he went face first into the ground:( mommy watched and almost cried! Luckily he was ok, other than some battle wounds!
Later on Saturday we went to the zoo to see the "monkeys" as Maycie says...she loves the monkeys! It was Claira's first zoo trip! Of course on the ride the two babies both fell asleep but they did wake up to enjoy the zoo after catnaps!
When we came home from the zoo Uncle Mark found a surprise in the backyard...some neighbor kids came in our backyard and opened up his beer cans and dumped them in the cooler and on the ground (or drank them...we hope dumped!). After some investigation we discovered it was Lorelie and her brother Griffen...they are only 6 and 4!!!!! TOO young to be curious about beer and too young to be lying and destroying other peoples things! EEP, scary! They came down with their mom to apologize. Not sure they learned anything from it though because they didnt' get any consequences. Anywho...kind of random strange event to happen!
That night the kiddos went to bed easy after a full day and no naps. First of course, we had to dye Easter eggs! So much fun! We dyed 48 eggs! But after that us grownups got to watch a movie!! And it wasn't animated! Score. Daddy warned everyone that mommy isn't the best at picking movies. Well I lucked out b/c this one was actually good. Argo. During the movie Mark and I finished stuffing some eggs and stuffed and hid Easter baskets.
The next morning was Easter. Kyle and I woke up to Kayden excitedly telling us "It's Easter. The bunny came. He left jelly beans on the floor, and you can see his paw prints. He left us big chocolate bunnies. And tons of tons of eggs are outside. And there are even eggs inside. Wow. This is so awesome. I'm so excited." His excitement was THE BEST. And then Breck came in equally excited with goodies in his hands from his Easter basket. That excitement was worth every late night of stuffing eggs, all the store runs to find the perfect goodies. It was worth being woken up with those excited little people not able to contain their anticipation for the day they were experiencing. I LOVE the magic of holidays with kids.
We had a great day, full of finding Kayden's missing Easter basket (in the coat closet), hunting eggs, finding all the goodies in the eggs, the boys had candy, playdough, puzzle pieces, lego pieces, bandaids (kayden's favorite! haha, jk he didn't like that the bunny sent lots of bandaids b/c of everyones falls the day before!), cars, yo yos, hex bugs, fruit snacks and I'm sure other fun little trinkets. And Maycie and Claira had hair bows, headbands, hair clips, jewelry, bubbles and little people princesses (those aren't easy to fit in the big eggs! I discovered after 5 stores and tape:)
After all the goodies were uncovered we played and mommy and Aunt Carrie got the Easter meal ready. Steaks, asparagus, mashed potatoes, veggies and ranch and fruit and fruit dip. Aunt Carrie made a cherry dessert with graham crackers, yum! Then Grandma and Grandpa Hingst arrived to eat with us from Milford, the kiddos were super excited about that!
We ended the day with a silly string war with Uncle Mark before he left:)
Love celebrating Easter with our families!
