On Thursday we went to an apple orchard with some church group friends. The website said that they had summer apples starting in late July so we thought we were good to go w/ apple picking. We arrived and the "farmer guy" as Kayden calls him told us the summer apples had a bug take over and we'd be picking blackberries. So berry picking we went. Kayden had picked raspberries the summer before in San Luis so he was a berrry picking pro this time. Our instructions were to pick "the big, black, shiny ones" and those he did! He filled his bucket 1/2 full, so about 5 pounds of berries. The bottom of the bucket had some berry juice from Kayden swinging the bucket and dropping it on the ground so much so we did have some smooshed berries but for the most part they were awesome!
After berry picking we had a picnic lunch and then all the little boys went to play football. (and the little girls too:) The boys were both 6 years old but Kayden hung with them and tackled like a pro, he loved the action and probably made his dad prouder by tackling 6 year olds than he has ever been of him so far:)
Breck LOVED the blackberries his big bro picked and devoured them and made a very big mess!
